This residential renovation transforms a historic Craftsman house in Ocean Park, Santa Monica, balancing respect for its architectural heritage with the demands of contemporary living. The design preserves the architectural character of the original façade and formal living spaces, while transforming the rear of the house to create a more open and connected living environment. New living spaces were carefully integrated with the garden through expanded glazing and outdoor rooms, establishing a stronger relationship between the home and landscape. Above, a new primary suite with raised ceilings provides a more refined and spacious retreat, bringing a renewed sense of elegance and cohesion to the home.
